Gardens and the Firepit….. Roselyn house is located in 1.5 acres of woodland and gardens. Much of this has been left to nature where a range of birds and animals live which hopefully you’ll get to see.
1. The ‘goat garden’: to the steps to the front door – there aren’t actually any goats here but there used to be! You can sit and relax here in the shade, have a picnic, or do anything you want…. It’s a natural area that you have easy access to and doesn’t involve and steps.
2. The ‘lower garden’: opposite door you’ll see a sign leading you down a flight of steps…head to the left at the bottom of these steps and there is a nice flat area of lawn. There is a set of Lawn Bowls/Penque available to play here or a Giant Jenga. (please be careful on the steps as there is no handrail)
3. The ‘Deck’: Head to the right at the bottom of the steps and you’ll get to the deck. The deck has 4 lounge-style chairs and a raised platform all around where you can lie or sit. (Do not roll off the back of the deck!). There is also an electrical socket fastened to the brown wooden deck on the right of the garden. Use the plastic picnic set in this zone if you want.
4. The ‘Stone Circle and Firepit’: At the far end of the garden on the other side of the deck is a stone circle surrounding a fire pit. You are welcome to sit around and have a real BBQ! We try to keep the woodpile stocked but I would recommend that you bring a bag of wood (or charcoal if you prefer) with you for when you arrive. If not the goat garden often has wood lying around. BBQ tools are available in the lower right drawer of the breakfast bar cupboard.
